Rural healthcare organizations need to prepare for healthcare initiatives that are growing more connectivity-dependent by the day. Many such initiatives—from telemedicine to patient care and satisfaction to business continuity/disaster recovery planning—were named as top priorities by rural providers in a 2017 survey conducted by HIMSS Analytics. To ensure they have the robust connectivity to support these initiatives, providers should take steps to ensure leadership buy-in and leverage available funding resources, such as the USAC Rural Health Care (RHC) program.
