How can I block robocalls with Call Guard for Enterprise?
What is Call Guard for Enterprise?
Call Guard for Enterprise is a complimentary feature for PRI/SIP trunking clients that automatically blocks or alerts your organization to potentially unwanted calls, such as robocalls, telemarketers and scammers.
This self-service feature can apply settings for your enterprise, specific service locations or trunk services, or individual direct inward dial (DID) telephone numbers.
Call Guard for Enterprise is inactive by default and must be turned on to activate it.
How it works
Call Guard for Enterprise works by monitoring inbound calls looking for signs of scammers, telemarketers or robocalls and will either block or send Caller ID alerts based on your organization's preferences. If no warning signs are detected, calls will be completed normally. The Call Guard for Enterprise feature is accessed through your Spectrum Enterprise Client Portal. Once active, you can view and edit settings across all locations and DIDs.
Settings include Caller ID alerting, automatic Call Blocking from known robocalls, telemarketers and scammers and reporting capabilities.
How to block specific phone numbers
Scammer and spammers are constantly changing their methods which can evade detection. If this happens, your organization is encouraged to report specific unwanted phone numbers by visiting http://reportspam.spectrum.com/.
How do I know what numbers are being blocked
When call blocking is active, you will have access to a report of any calls blocked across a selected timeframe. Reports can be generated by single service location, trunk service or one or more DIDs. Blocked call categories include:
- Invalid calls - numbers that are not part of the North American Numbering Plan Administrator (NANPA) but formatted to look like they are (e.g. 1-555-555-1234).
- Malformed calls - does not adhere to E.164 international standard format for telephone numbers defined by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) (e.g. North American number with less than ten digits).
- Scam/robocalls - telephone numbers that appear safe but are flagged or blocked due to known suspicious activity.
Will I receive Caller ID alerts for potential spam calls
Yes. When Caller ID settings are active, suspicious calls will appear as a (Spam Risk) alert on your phone's display. Users can choose whether or not to answer these calls.
